Core Registration

AYSO (25-26)

Our Core and Playground programs are the foundation for all the fun, excitement and learning that happens on the fields.

AYSO is best known for our Core program – it’s where the large majority of kids fall in love with soccer and make memories that will last a lifetime.

For 6U (5 years old / kindergarten): The 6U divisions will be a once a week hour run trainer run program. We still need parents to serve as coaches/team managerers/parent volunteers for each team to help out .
For 7U (6 years old / first grade): Same format as 6U, just a different timeslot.
For 8U: Same format as 6U, just a different timeslot. Also 90 minutes.
For 10U: The 10U division will have a Saturday practice (90 minutes) which utilizes a trainer for 60 minutes and a 30 minute scrimmage run by volunteer coaches. Also will have a game on Sunday afternoon (anywhere from 12-5pm). The volunteer coaches may also run an optional weekday practice (60 mins) at their discretion.
For 12U: Parents coaches lead a Saturday practice and a Sunday game.
For 14U: Same as 12U
For 18U: Same as 12U

Fall/Spring Registration will be closing in mid-August August so we can properly make teams for the Fall. Capacity will be limited for late registrants.

Spring-Only Registration will be closing in mid-March so we can properly maek teams for the Spring. Capacity will be limited for late registrants.

In-Town vs. Travel

Because of the size of our program, we are generally able to provide in-town programs with only our own players from Kindergarten through Second Grade. As the kids get older and the teams get bigger it becomes necessary to play against other local Westchester AYSO programs like Armonk, Chappaqua, Pleasantville, Ossining, etc. From time to time we also play against non-AYSO programs like Yonkers.

Everyone Plays

Here in AYSO, Everyone Plays means that no kid spends their soccer experience sitting on the bench. Every kid plays at least half of every game.

Balanced Teams

Also, teams are put together in a way that makes playing soccer about the experience, not wins or losses. It’s not about blowing out another team with an unbelievable score; it’s about sportsmanship and learning to be the best possible team mate and opponent. Developing players is what we’re about, because soccer skills and life skills go hand in hand. AYSO’s main purpose is to get kids on the field, provide them with good coaches, and teach them to play soccer.

Core requires a lot of certified Coaches and Referee volunteers. In addition, our region is completely organized by a volunteer Board.

As usual we will need some parents to step up and help out. We are always looking for division coordinators whose job it is to help make teams and get communications out to the parents. Parent coaching has never been easier with the support of New York City FC trainers. As you can imagine, running things requires a lot of teamwork and all help - large or small - is appreciated.
